Consultation

If you are new to the practice, a full dental examination will need to be completed, including a set of X-rays. The condition of your soft tissues (gums and tongue) will also be examined.

Once your dentist has explained the implant process and you are happy to proceed, digital scans, photographs and CBCT scans are taken.

Placement of the Dental Implant

The titanium implant is surgically placed under local anaesthetic. Your body’s healing mechanisms are triggered once the implant is in your jaw.

Crown Fitting

After the jaw has healed (3-6 months), a crown can be affixed over the top of your implant.

How does a single implant differ from a bridge or denture?

Unlike bridges and dentures, implants sit firmly within the jaw. They do not rely on the support of other teeth to function (like bridges) and are a non-removable solution for tooth loss (unlike dentures, which are removable).

How long will my jaw take to heal after implant surgery?

You will need to attend for suture removal after 1 week and then not again until healed- usually 8 weeks minimum.

I have a massive life long phobia of the Dentists. However prompted by an upcoming wedding, I braved taking advantage of the special offer for new patients I saw advertised on Facebook recently. I am so glad I did - not only did Rob and his team make me feel safe and in control from the outset, I was also very impressed with the reception team who were kind, approachable and professional. They made me feel welcome, informed and relaxed from the moment i arrived.The reception area is clean comfy and stylish with plenty of seating options.There is limited parking outside but I have been able to find a space on both visits so far and it is just a short walk from the number 52 bus stop, or a little longer one from town.So far, for the first time in a long time, I feel positive about the future of my dental health. It has a lovely family feel, team members who always recognise and welcome me, and whilst I am fortunate to only go bi-annually for check-ups and hygienist appointments, I always feel Jack gives my teeth and mouth a thorough check. I know if there was ever an emergency requiring treatment, I would get seen quickly, which is very reassuring. I felt like I was in safe hands, I am very happy with the treatment I have been provided with. I was fortunate enough to get an emergency appointment on the day, and have since had a check up. Extremely professional set up with friendly staff and knowledgeable, competent dentists and assistants.

Jack is a brilliant dentist. I feel safe in his care regarding my teeth and gums and bones. I felt I really got my monies worth and had a very thorough examination of my teeth and mouth. He's a charming person too! I thought James Metha would be very hard to replace as he was superbrilliant too but Jack is definitely on a par! And both big Laura and Bradley (who I have been to), the hygienists are fabulous and thorough and gentle. So it's a thumbs up from me!

Having had a fabulous dentist for most of my years of having teeth, I was nervous when Jack took over. However on my first check up with him I explained about how painful the left side of my jaw had been for quite sometime, to the point I couldn’t concentrate. A theory and measurements taken I was given a night mouth guard. A month on and the pain has practically disappeared I am very grateful and Thankyou!

The contact with Dr Acorn was very pleasant. He has excellent staff with him too.However, I was not so happy being asked to sit on "the landing".It obviously helped with the efficiency of the process, but it is not a comfortable place to wait while contemplating about meeting your dentist.There were no distractions such as there are in the waiting room. I also felt unhappy about sitting beside a low bannister looking down over the stairs. A risk assessment might address my concerns.I would be quite happy to enter the dental surgery unescorted. That's what happens at my doctor's surgery. No problem.I look forward to hearing a response.

Always anxious about visiting the dentist and especially as I hadn’t been for 2 years. Reception staff were welcoming as always greeting me by name. First appointment with Dr Jack Acorn. He was polite, professional and reassuring as was the dental nurse and I apologise for forgetting her name.I’ll never be happy going to the dentist but because it is necessary I’m happy to go to Creffield Lodge.

Very good service and expertise recommended, been with them 40plus years. Jack has done a tricky root canal for me and showed me the x-rays and explained everything in my second visit today, having it capped off with a crown in the new year. Well looked after by Jack and all his dedicated staff very Happy.Crown fitted today amazing job, Jack also fine tuned the height of the new crown to get a super feel and Bite, I also met Rob and was very impressed by both him and Jack.

Jack and his team were polite, friendly and excellent in all stages of my dental experience. I received orthodontic treatment which lasted for over 3 years. Amazing visit with Rob and his lovely dental nurse, Marie today. They always look after my very anxious Mum so well. Tooth extraction was very straightforward today, fully explained every step of the way. Mum has remained very calm and is in no way dreading future visits, which says it all... Outstanding!
