What Can Invisalign® Fix

Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth are when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

Open bite

An open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of foods like apples.

Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth, and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you that you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

1. Am I suitable for Invisalign®?

If you’ve ever been put off by the thought of a metal brace, the prospect of a removable and metal-free brace system is likely to be music to your ears. Invisalign® is extremely popular with patients who want a comfortable, removable, metal-free and diet-flexible treatment.

If you are suffering from decay, or you have gum disease and/or a lot of plaque staining, these issues will need to be addressed prior to starting Invisalign®.

2. How will Invisalign® affect my life?

Invisalign® treatment requires a certain degree of personal responsibility. This includes:

Remember to put your aligners in after you remove them to eat and clean your teeth.
Remember to wear them for 22 hours each day.
Keep them in their case when you are not wearing them to avoid damage/loss.

Day-to-day, Invisalign® is:

Easy to get used to.
Fits around your mealtimes.
Fits around your oral care (brushing and flossing) routine.
Can be removed and put back in easily.

3. Is Invisalign® a permanent fix?

Invisalign® is a permanent treatment. However, a retainer will need to be worn each night once treatment is completed. This is to stop teeth from moving back out of their new position.

4. How many hours a day do I need to wear my Invisalign® aligners?

Invisalign® aligners need to be worn for 22 hours each day. You have the freedom to take them out at mealtimes and when you need to brush and floss your teeth. Your aligners must be changed every 2 weeks because your teeth will change position gradually as the treatment starts to work its magic.

5. Can you get Invisalign® on the NHS?

Invisalign® is classed as a cosmetic dental treatment. Therefore, they are not available through the NHS.

6. How does treatment work?

Once you have decided to go ahead with treatment after your consultation, the consultation appointment fee is deducted from the overall treatment fee. Your dentist will provide you with a fully costed Invisalign® plan outlining what you can expect at each stage of your treatment. If you opt for finance, our friendly reception team will explain how to apply for this.

7. Will anyone notice my Invisalign® aligners?

Invisalign® sit snugly against your teeth; as they are transparent, it’s very hard for others to notice them. This is one of the main advantages of Invisalign® over fixed braces.

I have a massive life long phobia of the Dentists. However prompted by an upcoming wedding, I braved taking advantage of the special offer for new patients I saw advertised on Facebook recently. I felt like I was in safe hands, I am very happy with the treatment I have been provided with. I was fortunate enough to get an emergency appointment on the day, and have since had a check up. Extremely professional set up with friendly staff and knowledgeable, competent dentists and assistants.

Jack is a brilliant dentist. I feel safe in his care regarding my teeth and gums and bones. I felt I really got my monies worth and had a very thorough examination of my teeth and mouth. He's a charming person too! I thought James Metha would be very hard to replace as he was superbrilliant too but Jack is definitely on a par! And both big Laura and Bradley (who I have been to), the hygienists are fabulous and thorough and gentle. So it's a thumbs up from me!

DR Acorn is frankly the best dentist I have ever had.. I have followed him to his new practise in Colchester where his outstanding level of skill, expertise and experience combines with a caring disposition and a mindset that always puts the patient first. Having had a fabulous dentist for most of my years of having teeth, I was nervous when Jack took over. However on my first check up with him I explained about how painful the left side of my jaw had been for quite sometime, to the point I couldn’t concentrate. A theory and measurements taken I was given a night mouth guard. A month on and the pain has practically disappeared I am very grateful and Thankyou!

After decades of visiting dentists, the treatment that I received at Creffield Lodge Dental Practice was by far the best I've had.All the staff have been pleasant and professional and the skills and care provided by the dentists were exceptional.Each stage of the procedures was explained in as much detail as I required, and carried out painlessly!.Recommended? The contact with Dr Acorn was very pleasant. He has excellent staff with him too.However, I was not so happy being asked to sit on "the landing".It obviously helped with the efficiency of the process, but it is not a comfortable place to wait while contemplating about meeting your dentist.There were no distractions such as there are in the waiting room. I also felt unhappy about sitting beside a low bannister looking down over the stairs. A risk assessment might address my concerns.I would be quite happy to enter the dental surgery unescorted. That's what happens at my doctor's surgery. No problem.I look forward to hearing a response.

Always anxious about visiting the dentist and especially as I hadn’t been for 2 years. Reception staff were welcoming as always greeting me by name. First appointment with Dr Jack Acorn. He was polite, professional and reassuring as was the dental nurse and I apologise for forgetting her name.I’ll never be happy going to the dentist but because it is necessary I’m happy to go to Creffield Lodge.

They are really so good specially a Doctor Jack ,first time when I came and seat on chair i was so stress and scared, he help me from then pain he explained to me what to do after my taken of out 3 teeth, i strongly recommended. Thank you to Jack and nurses they are so friendly and helpful.

No one likes going to the dentist but Creffield Lodge go out of their way to make it the best it can be. From the receptionists, to the dental nurses, and, particularly, my dentist, Rob, everyone is cheerful, welcoming, and professional. Laura, the hygienist, and her team, were gentle but vigorous. Very good service and expertise recommended, been with them 40plus years. Jack has done a tricky root canal for me and showed me the x-rays and explained everything in my second visit today, having it capped off with a crown in the new year. Well looked after by Jack and all his dedicated staff very Happy.Crown fitted today amazing job, Jack also fine tuned the height of the new crown to get a super feel and Bite, I also met Rob and was very impressed by both him and Jack.

Jack and his team were polite, friendly and excellent in all stages of my dental experience. I received orthodontic treatment which lasted for over 3 years. Amazing visit with Rob and his lovely dental nurse, Marie today. They always look after my very anxious Mum so well. Tooth extraction was very straightforward today, fully explained every step of the way. Mum has remained very calm and is in no way dreading future visits, which says it all... Outstanding!
